Dawn completed her MSc and PhD in School and Applied Child Psychology at the University of Calgary. She has specialized training and experience in assessment, including ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, behaviour challenges (oppositional/conduct), cognitive delays, fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, giftedness, and mood concerns (e.g., anxiety, depression).
In addition to general counselling for emotional regulation, social skills, self-awareness/control, and executive functioning, Dawn has also sought additional supervision and training in evidence based treatments for anxiety, including generalized worries, phobias, school refusal, and selective mutism. Parent involvement and capacity building is often a critical component of treatment to support the generalization of skills outside the office.
