Jennifer is a Registered Psychologist with 15 years of experience working with school-aged children, adolescents, and their families. She received an MA in School Psychology in 2003 and a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the CPA Accredited program at Dalhousie University in 2008. She has trained and worked in schools, outpatient clinics, and three pediatric teaching hospitals, including the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, the IWK Health Centre in Halifax, and Alberta Children’s Hospital here in Calgary.
Jennifer’s areas of expertise include the assessment and treatment of school-aged children and adolescents with:
- Anxiety or worry
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Depression, low self-esteem, suicidal thoughts
- Emotional regulation problems
- School avoidance/anxiety
The treatments that Jennifer uses are evidence based. This means that they have been studied and shown to be effective in scientific literature. Jennifer incorporates creative, artistic, and interactive strategies to make therapeutic material meaningful for all ages. Jennifer uses a primarily Cognitive Behavioural approach, but she incorporates Behavioural, Attachment-focused, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and Dialectical Behavioural approaches when indicated for the presenting concerns.
