View TeamMarlis has been a psychologist for almost 30 years. With an MEd in Counselling Psychology and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, she has many specialty areas and works with all age groups. She has extensive experience with assessment and long-term management of ADHD, learning disabilities, cognitive disabilities, DCD, and Autism Spectrum in children and adults.
She assesses for memory problems, brain injury, cognitive impairment, mental health issues, decision-making capacity, and dementia. She has broad experience with assessment and treatment of many mental health problems, including depression and anxiety disorders. She does legal assessments, including custody assessments (PN7 and PN8) and expert witness reports.
Marlis is well-versed in evidence-based assessment and treatment guidelines for most psychological issues. She helps people identify, understand, and then address barriers with the ultimate goal of working toward positive future outcomes . She has tremendous appreciation and respect for the trust placed in her by Calgary families.
Marlis is widely known among doctors, paediatricians, lawyers, private schools, public schools, post-secondary schools, and government organizations. She provides immigration assessments, legal assessments, guardianship assessments, and custody assessments. She is an expert witness at the Court of Queen's Bench and provides legal opinions and reports. As well as working in private practice for many years, she has consulted to numerous organizations. She has been an instructor at the University of Calgary in the psychological assessment area and has supervised many psychologists-in-training.
Dr. Marlis remains involved in directing and mentoring at The Family Psychology Place, but has retired from active client work after almost four decades of practice!
