r. Cheryl Gilbert MacLeod is a registered psychologist with over 20 years of clinical experience with children, adolescents, and their families. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Child Psychology from The University of British Columbia in 2000 and has since worked at prominent children’s hospitals, including the IWK Health Centre in Halifax and the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary. She has been in private practice since 2009 and works collaboratively with the great team of health care professionals at The Family Psychology Place as well as with manypediatricians in Alberta.

Dr. Cheryl specializes in evidence-based treatments, primarily cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), for a variety of areas such as: Anxiety Disorders, Selective Mutism, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Parenting. Dr. Cheryl is also skilled in helping families with Tourette’s Syndrome & Tic Disorders using Comprehensive Behavioural Intervention for Tics / Exposure and Response Prevention (CBIT / ERP) and Repetitive Behavioral Disorders such as hair pulling, thumb sucking and nail biting.

 

Dr. Cheryl is additionally skilled in conducting comprehensive psychological and psycho-educational assessments, aiding in accurate diagnoses and personalized treatment plans. She also contributes to professional development through presentations and workshops across Alberta.
