Marriage and Family Therapist and Registered Social Worker
South Location
View TeamDelaine Bennett is a Registered Social Worker through the Alberta College of Social Workers with over 20 years of experience working with individuals, couples, children, and their families.
She uses counseling strategies from a variety of theories including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, solution focused therapy, trauma resilience, motivational interviewing, and attachment theory. Delaine values the diversity found in all humans and recognizes that there is often not a “one size fits all” approach. Delaine believes that counseling is most effective when people feel comfortable and at ease and she encourages this by bringing warmth, acceptance (and often humor!) to each session.
Delaine has developed special interests over her years of practice in the areas of individual self-worth and empowerment, understanding and accepting emotions, parenting strategies, family functioning and communication, ADHD, ASD, anxiety, depression, and trauma.
Delaine has gathered experience working within the community teaching and counseling families as well as assessing, training, and supporting foster families. The majority of her experience comes from working with the Government of Alberta where she focused on assessing risk for children, assessing and treating trauma, strengthening family relationships, increasing communication skills, building up support networks, finding supportive resources and navigating through legal, medical, and mental health systems.
When she’s not in the office, you can find Delaine camping, kayaking, or reading by the fire with her husband and two boys, or on colder days wrapped up reading counseling theory research, Stephen King books, or watching the latest Netflix series.
