Takia Angus

akia is a Registered Psychologist in Alberta, currently enrolled in the Doctoral program in Clinical Psychology at California Southern University. She received her Master of Counselling degree specializing in Counselling Psychology from the University of Calgary. Takia has been working in the human services and counselling field since 2007 and has experience working with individuals of all ages. She has offered mental health services in multiple settings including government and community agencies.

Takia sees herself as a catalyst helping individuals reach their maximum potential. She believes every individual is unique, resilient and has the capacity to grow and reach their full potential given the right supports.

 

Takia’s theoretical orientation is trauma informed and primarily Cognitive-Behavioural theory based. She uses evidence-based treatments backed by scientific research. Her therapy is tailored towards client needs and she also incorporates various other approaches when clinically indicated such as Solution Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Play Therapy. Takia emphasizes a collaborative and client-centered approach and closely works together with the client on their journey to healing.

Takia offers individual psychotherapy for children, adolescents and adults. She also provides couple’s therapy utilizing the Gottman Method. She has a special interest in working with children, and members of the Canadian Armed Forces. Takia’s areas of practice and experience include counselling for anxiety, ADHD, ASD, behavioural problems, depression, emotion regulation, low self-esteem, parenting support, relationship issues, stress, and trauma.
