7 Reasons to Choose Registered Provisional Psychologist
At The Family Psychology Place, we value collaboration, continued education, and ongoing training to provide our clients with the best possible experience. We’ve meticulously chosen clinicians – a combination of Registered Psychologists, Registered Social Workers, and Registered Provisional Psychologists – who embody qualities such as compassion, warmth, dedication to skillful therapy, thorough psychological assessment, and an eagerness to address the increasing demand for psychological services.
So what exactly is a Registered Provisional Psychologist (or Provisional Psychologist, for short), and why should I see them? Here are 7 reasons:
Extensive Training:
All our Provisional Psychologists have completed a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree program, as well as a practicum program. Some of our clinicians are also completing, or have completed, a Ph.D. program while working as a Provisional Psychologist. They are in the final stages of their training, refining their knowledge under the guidance of senior psychologists before becoming fully Registered Psychologists with the College of Alberta Psychologists.
Up-to-date Knowledge:
Provisional Psychologists have recently completed their university training, ensuring they are well-versed in the latest research and treatment approaches. This not only benefits our clients but also provides our senior psychologists with valuable insights into cutting-edge resources and research.
Passionate About Their Practice:
Actively engaged in ongoing learning, Provisional Psychologists at The Family Psychology Place are passionate about implementing evidence-based psychological approaches, including psychological assessment, tailored to each client’s unique needs.
Ongoing Supervision:
Our Provisional Psychologists receive ample supervision from senior psychologists and have access to the wealth of knowledge that is synonymous with our team. They also have external supervisors, ensuring a comprehensive support network and the integration of diverse expertise into their practice.
Clinician Experience vs. Client Outcomes:
Research challenges the assumption that more experienced psychologists necessarily achieve better client outcomes. The therapeutic alliance between the psychologist and the client plays a crucial role in effective therapy, emphasizing the importance of the relationship over the years of experience.
Quality Time for Each Client:
Provisional psychologists at The Family Psychology Place manage fewer clients each day compared to senior clinicians. This allows them more time to plan sessions, reflect on client progress, consult with supervisors, and explore new therapeutic ideas.
Shorter Wait Times:
At this early stage, our provisional psychologists offer shorter wait times, enabling clients to secure appointments within a few weeks, a rarity in the increasingly busy hustle and bustle.
